3 min fire drill - one of my acting bits

Hi Everyone! So I went to my 20 year high-school reunion tonight. It was so great to see such smiling wonderful people. We all seem much the same (child like in many aspects) but now mature. How is it possible that we are now those "old folks"? NO WAY! I refuse!

We all asked the typical questions…what do you do? Married? Kids?... and so for those of you who were interested and I haven't yet reached you on Facebook, (and to all my loyal readers - yup - YOU!) Here is a video I did when I was more actively pursuing my acting career. (Filmed before my amazing loving, loyal husband Brian died in a plane crash while putting out a fire, which turned into a fire…odd how life is more bizarre than fiction..)  Anyhow, enough of that, this is netshappyplace… and here's the clip…roll camera! (SHHHH quiet on the set!)

Be safe, love those around you - (where-ever they may be in life) and be true to yourself. Good night everyone.

Mail is in!

Here's what happens when you forget to pick up your mail key. (Actually, I was super duper busy with the move and kids…) This was only about a week back, sad to admit that…

Well, life gets super busy at times, hey? I am trying to maintain a level of balance. Sometimes family balances to the one side, sometimes work on the other, sometimes it's me taking time for myself and feeling guilty all the while and sometimes it's just quiet. I can compare it to a teeter totter. I am going to enjoy some of that quiet me time right now and read the 5th book in The Great and Terrible series- From the End of Heaven, by Chris Stewart.  Have you ever wondered who you really were before you were born? What your talents were? Who you knew and were close to? (Ever have those deja vu's? Or I swear I've met you before..?) Here's the link:

The Great and Terrible Series

A very interesting non-fiction book about a Doctor's encounter with death is - To Heaven and Back by Mary C. Neal MD. This is a really good read too.

To Heaven and Back

Ok everyone. Happy Reading.

Treat of the Week posting and…a treat for me and my family in the future…!

-CNTC -

Our Arbonne Conference here in Canada was so fabulous:  training, entertainment, products, shopping, food, and fantastic people!

Trying out my new car-to-be.  =) Mercedes Benz all the way, Baby!!

Arbonne is so generous, hey?

Parliament on a moist evening.

Treat of the Week

Ok. It's been a little while since I posted any exciting Arbonne "treats" for you. Here are 2!

1. Lately I have been making sample baskets for my host/hostess of their upcoming parties/get-to-gethers. The contents vary depending on product and household. Here is one example of the goodies I bring over. They and their family then try these remarkable vegan certified, mineral oil free, SLS free (to name just a very few of the benefits of Arbonne) products until we meet again at their party. What a great way to pamper my host/hostess!

(protein shake mix, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, detox wash, men's shave gel, men's exfoliating wash, hand lotion, mud mask, facial scrub, 5 in1 massage oil, RE9 anti-aging skin care line )

2. The Antioxidant - Immunity Boosters are almost here! I am super excited about this. They were available in the States but now we will have them here right away. They are packed with powerful antioxidants as well as immunity & energy ingredients. What does that Car say that little kids love…"Ka-chow!"  These puppies work! (Seriously)  Great in time for the cold season.

I see that my viewer has increased dramatically - this is great! Leave me a message when you're here. Please remember to be happy in the journey. I will leave you with a quote I saw on the airport wall..

"The world belongs to those who see its potential."

Ottawa & the Fallen Firefighters Memorial Wall

My wonderful supportive husband and I went to Ottawa and visited the memorial wall for fallen firefighters in search for my late husband's name. It was a sad time for us both. I thought I would post some of the pictures for those of you who may also have a name on that wall and who may not be able to go see it yet.

A Firefighter's Prayer

The Wall

I highlighted the two valiant pilots. My Brye and his Captain Tim.

Man, we miss him so much. He is truly with us every day. My hubbie now is so wonderfully gracious, supportive, gentle and loving without an once of jealousy in him. He is such an active part of keeping Brian's memory alive. I have truly been blessed with two fantastic, first grade, honourable men.

What's New?

Hi Everyone. Have you all settled into your new September routines? We are blessed to have such great weather right now. Count your blessings.

I want you to know, as I post these pictures, (since I was with some ladies the other day, and I have heard this from one of my dearest friends too) that my house is NOT perfect, unless you do not LIVE in your house, no-body's house is perfect, nor should it be that way. As you can see, I had just vacuumed, and since I was vacuuming, I picked up some toys, fixed the (sorta) already made bed, threw some funny looking pillows that don't match but the kids love, into the hallway and then snapped this picture for use LATER on my blog. Right now, I have to vacuum again, as I had kids over (which is what I love, kids hanging out at my house) but, yes! I have crushed fishy crackers, bread crumbs and popcorn in my carpet right now. I will get to it. But not right now. Now is my time. I am a busy Mom and we all need a few moments to ourselves to re-group. I just thought I would share that tidbit with you, because I am a normal person who wants to be the best I can be everyday - but not perfect. Not in this life, anyway.. =)

Ok, so now that I hope I have lightened your expectations of what reality should look like...here is a picture of my tv room right now! (Actually, after I took this picture I realized it's actually not bad...sorry people. I will post a real mess another time..hee hee)

Here's a peek at a couple of the rooms at our house.

Here you can see the toy box with lift lids and two end cupboards where little girls like to keep their treasures.

See? Told ya. I had just vacuumed.

I'm sure there are toys under the bed but I didn't check as I was having company by right away.

We took away their dresser so they could have more play space and had the dresser built inside their closet instead. (I also threw the dirty clothes that were piled in the closet into the hall.)

This little girl didn't need much tidying. She is organized by herself. Her bed needed a few touch ups, but that was it really.

(That teddy is ancient. I had it as a youth.)

Drop me a line and give me your opinion about window coverings. Take a look at my previous post first to see my considerings.

Decor Ideas

This tufted chair is cute. We sat on one today
that was so soft and comfy. I could wrap my arms up
and around the sides - very relaxing. Since I am short, this
could be a hit for me.
I seem to be drawn to these shades. It could be the colour.
Still searching for the perfect window coverings.
Isn't this a great looking chair?

Treat of the Week

My Arbonne focus this week is the shakes! I do truly love them. The chocolate ones are my favourite and taste like cake batter. They are high in protein. (20 grams of VEGAN protein, actually) & have 21 essential vitamins and minerals. Check them out on my webpage!

Have a great weekend, and remember to have fun in the journey.

Window Treatments

Ok folks, here are some fabulous pictures I found on the Internet to help me with my decision making.

Let me know what you think....

(I'm sorry it was late when I searched them so I can't be sure what sites I found them on...;(

I really like the shutter idea.

This one allows for so much light to come through. Beautiful.

This is not my colour scheme but the Roman shades may be preferable on the windows with the benches.

This is a nice traditional look, I think. It allows privacy but still lets in lots of light. (And it's so quaint!)

Look at these Roman shades ( I think that is what they are called, correct me if I'm wrong) They have a nice bright print. I like the way they gather when pulled up.

Again, with the part way curtains...so sweet. I may do a combination of the above in different rooms, who knows?

Lovin' it!! So bright and clean.

Or, this! Shutters with a cute fabric above.

This is actually a vintage tea towel hanging as a blind. (I probably won't do this as I don't have any vintage tea towels, but it is so cute I had to include it.)

Again, way cute...

We've Moved Into the Blue House!

Hi Everyone! Well, we finally have internet and are up and running. (Who isn't in the month of September if you have kids?)

Since we just got internet this evening, I will post only a few pictures of our decorating, thus far. The house is mostly unpacked, thanks to so many wonderful friends and family members.

First, look at this adorable garbage can! I found this on the Garnet Hill website.

This is our main entrance light.

Look at these cuties! If you look closely you can see that they are actually spying on their little sister as she takes her piano lessons.

A little blurry, but this is the main bath for the little ones.

You can see the Restortation Hardware lights, plus, my favourite store - Target - (when on holidays)  is where we got the "froot-loop" rug as the girls like to call it, and the shower curtain.

The hooks (which will hold some pretty cute Garnet Hill towels one day) are from Anthropology.

(I am still trying to sort out my window covering issue, any suggestions are greatly appreciated. )

Our house is waaay cute and cozy, hope you'll enjoy the tour as I present it.
